Brener Elementary

Built in 1968, Olga Brener elementary is named after the long-time principal of Lincoln, and member of the Board of Education. Mrs. Brener was a dedicated educator who introduced the PTA at Lincoln and brought in a Girl Scout troop.

The first public school in Shawano was Lincoln, a two story, two classroom wooden buiding built in 1871 on the present site. A brick building replaced the wooden one in 1877, which stood until it was destroyed by fire in 1924. The brick building that replaced it in 1925, and which still stands as Lincoln Elementary, was at the time considered one of Wisconsin's most modern educational facilities.

Shawano Community Middle serves grades 6 through 8 and boasts a number of excellent facilities. It presently operates at the location of the old high school building which was built in the 1950's.

The current Shawano Community High was completed in 1997. It's not like the one room schoolhouse that we attended sixty years ago; this one has a 750 seat auditorium and a six lane swimming pool. Sports include Baseball, Basketball, Cheerleading, Cross Country, Football, Golf, Soccer, Softball, Swimming,Tennis, Track, Volleyball, and Wrestling.
